Marisa Maza is a media artist who in the field of video and photography. Since the early 1990s, Maza’s work has focused on issues of gender, sexuality and identity as well as on the political and social construction of bodies and their media representation. Furthermore, the human body and typologies of real, fictional and/or simulated (urban) landscapes were thematized as (metaphorical) systems for the inscription of sociopolitical conditions.
She has lived and worked in Berlin since 1989 and completed her postgraduate studies in the field of Fine Arts and Media Studies at the Fine Arts University of Berlin (Hochschule der Künste Berlin, 1999). 2004-05 was a Mentoring Program UdK /Mentor Prof. Katharina Sieverding. One year teach-in-progress, class-context of Prof. Katharina Sieverding, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin. From 2005-07, she was a visiting artist at the College of Fine Arts, University of  Florida, USA
